UPDATE: Rep. King has decided to extend the deadline to March 12. Also next week, the push on the Senate side will begin, so keep sending your comments to your Congressional elected officials! So far, NY really came on in the last 12 hours or so and VA and CA are pacing everyone. Also – at least one letter has been sent in 43 states – that’s great – now we just need to increase the frequency of those letters. Thank you for your support in this effort!
Representatives Jim Marshall (GA) and Peter King (NY) are currently circulating a letter to colleagues in Washington asking for their support for increased funding for the Prostate Cancer Research Program – part of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program at the Department of Defense.
The program's funding has been stagnant at around $80 million for 9 years. Because of the extended leveling of the program, grants to continue research into clinical trials has slowed to a halt and unless Congress acts to increase funding for the PCRP, important research will be forced to remain in the lab instead of moving forward to the bedside to potentially help patients fight their prostate cancer.
As a member of the prostate cancer community, we need you to take action today.
