The SEA Blue event attracts approximately 1,500 participants each year to run the 5K race or walk the one-mile course along the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan.
The event is emceed by WGN-TV news anchor and prostate cancer survivor Steve Sanders. SEA Blue media coverage raises awareness for prostate cancer as a major men’s health issue while showcasing the support and education services provided to the prostate cancer community from Us TOO at no charge—thanks, in part, to the support of corporate sponsors for the SEA Blue event.
Activities throughout the day include a 5K run certified by CARA (Chicago Area Runners Association); a celebration walk with inspirational opening ceremonies; a sponsor information village; opportunities for patients to interact with medical professionals in our meet and greet tent; free lunch, drinks and snacks; a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers; a DJ and live music; plus the Family Fun Zone including moon walk inflatable, face painting and games for the kids!
Each year, rain or shine, a crowd sporting positive attitudes and determined spirits gathers—from runners pushing to shave seconds off their time while racing to the finish line—to walkers waving a team flag to honor a loved one who’s lost his battle.
Money raised will help fund the prostate cancer education resources and support services provided at no charge from Us TOO International, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.
