The programs and services provided by Us TOO International are made possible by generous donations from committed and concerned people just like you! Us TOO is 100% funded by private donations from individuals, corporations and health related grant awards. Your planned gift to Us TOO helps ensure the future of prostate cancer patient focused support programs nationwide and abroad. Your financial advisor will be able to provide an overview of the numerous charitable giving vehicles appropriate for you and how they may benefit your family or loved ones.
Planned giving can be as simple as designating a gift through your will, gifting life insurance policies or securities, or designating Us TOO as a beneficiary on a retirement account. When establishing your will, we hope you will consider a bequest to Us TOO International to help us continue to be the primary source of support and information for prostate cancer patients, their families and friends.
Become a supporter Us TOO by including us in your will! The following language may be helpful to your lawyer as you prepare or update you will:
I give, devise and bequeath to Us TOO International, 2720 S. River Road, Suite 112, Des Plaines, IL 60018-4106, Tax ID #36-3723349, the sum of ____ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate) to be used for the general purposes of the organization.
Some of our supporters no longer need their life insurance that was purchased years ago to provide for children or other family members. If that is your situation, please consider donating the policy to Us TOO International. You will be eligible to claim a charitable donation for approximately the policy’s cash surrender value and the proceeds are removed from your estate. Ways to give a gift of life insurance include:
Give a single premium policy for maximum benefits.
If you have owned stock for at least one year that has increased in value, you can donate that stock to Us TOO without having to pay capital gains on the increase. Additionally, there is an income tax charitable deduction equal to the full current market value of the securities. In order to receive the most favorable tax treatment, you must donate the securities to Us TOO directly, you cannot sell the stock and donate the proceeds.
With the increase in the variety of retirement plan assets that people own, it is important to make sure that the money invested in these accounts goes to the people or organizations that you designate. Retirement plans such as IRA’s, pension plans, Keogh and 401 (K) accounts should have clearly designated beneficiaries. Proper planning and naming Us TOO as one of your account beneficiaries can reduce tax burdens on retirement assets.
On October 3, 2008, President Bush signed legislation (Public Law 110-343), which includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover originally enacted as part of the Pension Protection Act of 2006. The extension is retroactive, applying to distributions made throughout both the 2008 and 2009 tax years. The extension will allow individuals 70½ and older to donate up to $100,000 from their IRAs to charities tax-free
In a very real sense, people who make planned gifts through their estate plans are investors in Us TOO International’s future as well as the future of patients and families who will face prostate cancer in years to come. Help us better plan for the future of Us TOO and these families by informing us of your generosity. Contact our office and let us know you have arranged for an estate gift to Us TOO International. Us TOO strongly encourages our supporters to consult with your legal and financial advisors when considering a planned gift to ensure the selection of the best gift option for you and your family.
